Hi and welcome to the Intelligent Observatory (IO) website. The IO is an exciting initiative being developed by the South African Astronomical Observatory for making the different telescopes on the Sutherland plateau work together for new Science possibilities and greater observation efficiency and agility. The Intelligent Observatory Vision page gives more details.
The IO team will use this website as the central repository of information related to the team’s work during the development of the Intelligent Observatory. As functionality is developed, we will also populate the IO Dashboard. The live dashboard can be found here (need to be on local network/vpn).
The core IO team uses a modification of the Scrum methodology as a framework to manage how we execute the work. Please see this page for additional information of the IO implementation of Scrum, including links to Sprint Review presentations, documentation, etc.
The Intelligent Observatory is open to anyone who has the capacity and ability to contribute. If there are any items on the product backlog of interest, you may join the team for a Sprint period (about 4 weeks duration) to work on it. You can also suggest functionality that you feel is required for IO. The team has scrum meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a Technical Meeting on Wednesdays. Please get in touch with Stephen Potter for futher information.
